There is a remarkable difference between the presentations of the result of the negotiations between Greece and the Troika. Yannis Varoufakis presents us the very words and arguments he gave the other ministers in his blog. Angela Merkel, on the other hand, is presenting a press release on the page of her office. She even got Sigmar Gabriel, her vice chancellor and nominated competitor for office, to provide a harsh summary of the greek minister’s actions.
Just looking at the different presentations I feel to be fed a little bit of polished marketing by one side and a little more transparency by the other side. And overall, I do not completely understand what’s so bad about asking the very people to take a decision at a point where the current mandate, arguably, seems insufficient to make that decision. This might be a good way to practise democracy.
